The McLaren Health Care organization covers up traces of hacking, but BlackCat hackers "also know how to joke".

McLaren Health Care, a network of medical institutions in Michigan, has become another victim of cybercriminals from the ALPHV/BlackCat group. According to the attackers themselves, the data of 2.5 million patients was stolen.

McLaren Health Care is a non-profit healthcare system, one of the largest in the state.

Representatives of ALPHV / BlackCat claim that the McLaren management tried to hide the fact of hacking. Moreover, the hackers claimed that they still have access to the organization's corporate network.

In a post on its leak site, ALPHV / BlackCat writes:" How interesting it would be to hear from a McLaren representative about how they begged us not to disclose the stolen data and skillfully tried to cover up the traces of hacking. McLaren looked for ways out of this situation and finally showed that the sensitive information of 2.5 million patients means nothing to them. Your words about protecting patients privacy and interests were just words. McLaren, your safety level is critically low, and we have successfully demonstrated this. Our backdoor is still active in your network, and despite your attempts to play with us, we also know how to joke and have fun. See you later..."

It is worth noting that over the past month, the ALPHV/BlackCat group has become noticeably more active. Recently, hackers claimed to have hacked into Clarion, a global manufacturer of audio and video equipment for cars. Today we wrote about the attack on a large hotel chain — Motel One.

Cybersecurity specialist Dominic Alvieri said that ALPHV / BlackCat recently breached the security of 15 more US hospitals and 2 health insurance organizations.
