How do you envision the future? We are no longer children, so flying cars, hoverboards and holographic projections are out of the question. For example, the infamous Zuckerberg believes that the future is in the metaverse. They drove to figure out what it is!
Introduction
If you are even a little interested in the topic of IT, then in some news article or blog you have probably already heard about the word metauniverse. Personally, I have a couple of questions about this term, since it's too pretentious and is used more for hype and marketing purposes. Either the directors of the world's largest companies have reviewed the Marvel films, or they are all cunning crooks, or both. In fact, the epic in the metaverse is about like in a eaten egg, nevertheless, the thing is quite important and will soon change our life with you.
What?
Remember the movie Ready Player One? So - this is a film about the metaverse, or a large virtual world, to which people are connected using modern technologies, in our case, VR. Roughly speaking - the same matrix, only with Blackjack and courtesans. The idea itself is relatively fresh.
The term "metaverse" was coined by science fiction writer Neil Stevenson in 1992 in his novel "Snow Crash". Stevenson's metaverse is the next stage in the development of the Internet: a common digital world that combines "physical", augmented and virtual reality. The metauniverse in the minds of science fiction writers is a utopian virtual universe, which is “liberated” from the cultural, social, economic and political problems of reality, or a virtual “refuge”. People can connect to it in the form of avatars and do everything as in the real world: search for information, communicate, go shopping and work - but at the same time get away from reality and live in a virtual universe. A human avatar in the metaverse can be whoever he wants and own anything, and death does not mean death in the real world. Well,
Realities
All this is cool, but why is it so actively talked about right now? Do we already have the technical ability to recreate the matrix in the real world and on an impressive scale? In fact, these types of metauniverses have existed for a long time. This is any MMORPG game, like the same WOW, Lineage and even a Minecraft server. The essence is the same, but technologically it is still not the same. But what should be the metaverse, ideally, and how the world of those see it. Giants:
Key features of the metaverse
When?
And now everyone is striving for this, and in different areas. Fortnite, for example, is the leader in gaming. They want to make the same oasis out of Spielberg's painting out of their toy. But the companies Facebook, Google and Microsoft are working hard to create their own VR SIMS, in which they will not need to maintain offices, and all employees will gather in the form of square avatars in a digital smoking room. And in fact, everything you need for this is already there. Creating a visual is not a problem - there is Unreal Engine.
VR equipment for immersion in the world is also present, and cryptocurrencies have already become the center of the metaverse economy. In particular, the same sphere of NFT is credited with a key role in the formation of the global world metaverse. Nevertheless, problems remain. Modern digital worlds are independent and not interconnected - the Internet is structured around separate servers. They interact with each other only as needed. That is, today there are already digital worlds with separate features of the metauniverses. But in order to become real meta-universes, in which millions of people can be at the same time, northern capacities and technologies. In any case, sooner or later (+ - 10 years) we will all be driven into the virtual world. If we are not already in it ... So wait.

Key features of the metaverse
- Endless existence. It never resets, pauses, or ends.
- It works in real time and is independent of external factors, although developers can create and schedule events in the metaverse.
- There is no limit on audience size and number of concurrent users. Everyone can connect to the metaverse at any time and participate in its life on an equal footing with the rest.
- There must be a fully functioning economy. People and companies can receive some kind of reward (analogue of money) for "work" that brings "value" recognized by others, spend it and invest.
- The metaverse connects the physical and digital worlds, open and closed platforms, private and public networks. It is a "digital unified whole".
- The interoperability of data, objects, assets, content transferred between digital worlds is required. For example, a user should be able to transfer cars from GTA Online to Need for Speed or gift them to a Facebook friend.
- The metauniverses should be filled with “content and experiences” created by their own users: singles, groups, or businesses.
