Studying character accentuations, we first of all pay attention to "pure" psychotypes, in order to have an idea of the basic tendencies of behavior and stereotypes of human thinking. In life, of course, it is almost impossible to meet a "pure" psychotype. Each healthy person, as a rule, will have a basic psychotype and the so-called social, but there are also pronounced features of several psychotypes in one person. Mixed characters are formed by the superstructure of one psychotype on the organic basis of another.

The reasons for such add-ons may be different: the type of upbringing, environmental conditions, a person's own efforts to correct his character traits, education.

For example, traits of the epileptoid psychotype can overlap with the hysterical. Then this person will be more structured, but also attention and desire to be the best in everything will be important for him. The epileptoid superstructure is often found in families in which the parents adhered to an authoritarian parenting style. Education (for example, legal), service in the armed forces, service in the police, etc. can leave an epileptoid superstructure in a person's character.

Knowledge of mixed characters helps to better understand a person. True, it is sometimes difficult to determine which psychotype a person belongs to. In such cases, it is necessary to determine which radical manifests itself more definitely and clearly.

An important point is that all eight psychotypes are included in the character of each person. But some of them will be more pronounced than others, and some will appear rarely and depending on the context. The more radicals a character is endowed with, the more adaptive capabilities a person has. At the same time, the monolithic character is violated and its internal contradictions increase.

Accentuated personalities are people in whose character one radical clearly dominates, drowning out the manifestations of other tendencies. Such people lose to others in everyday life, but they are ahead of them in activities for which their inherent character traits are professionally important. For example, an accentuated epileptoid will be wonderful as a military man, and a hysteroid, as if born for acting and for the stage.

If you are in doubt which of the radicals is basic, you can safely write both in the profile. The main thing is not to confuse them with those that are little inherent in this person. To correctly build relationships with a person, this knowledge is quite enough.

In situations where you observe the manifestation of several radicals in one person, in approximately equal proportions, you should interact with the person based on which radical manifests itself brighter in a particular situation. As a rule, such “universal” people have a situational hierarchy of radicals in character: the radical that provides the best adaptation to a specific situation gets the greatest manifestation. In relation to a mixed character with equal severity of several radicals, it is difficult to make a communicative mistake - you will get somewhere. It is important not to write everyone in such mixed characters.
