On September 7, the user was subjected to a phishing attack, as a result of which he lost 9579 stETH (~$15.6 million) and 4850 rETH (~$8.5 million).
This is likely the largest single-person wallet hack using privacy tracking software in history.
The victim granted approval to the scammer by signing the "increaseAllowance" transaction. The attacker has already converted the stolen funds into ETH and DAI and transferred them to several addresses.
The affected address has extensive trading experience and is a major market maker. The user provided liquidity on Uniswap v3 for the WBTC/USDT pair worth over $1.6 million. He was also active on the Aave, 1inch, Curve, OMG, EOS protocols and others.
According to Scam Sniffer analysts, the hacker's wallet is associated with many phishing sites.
Earlier, journalists warned that attackers began to use the URLs of government websites in several countries to deceive users of the non-custodial crypto wallet MetaMask and steal their assets.
Let us recall that in August an unknown person attacked the Cypher decentralized exchange based on Solana and withdrew about $1 million in cryptocurrencies.
Later, the Zunami Protocol yield aggregator was hacked, as a result of which it lost $2.1 million in digital assets.
