magtek microcontroler

can any one give an idea on somthing to make with a magtek microcontroler? i have a board circut board that came from an atm and was wondering is there a way to get info from it or use the microcontroler to make a skimmer ?

can you explain what you mean by magtek microcontroller?

im a microcontroller programmer so i may be able to help, but do you mean a magtek reader?

those contain only a head, a timer IC and a few diodes/resistors to convert data to proper usb format and keep timing during a read. they dont havee a microcontroller (in the ones i have seen anyway) just some basic ICs at most.

No bro, you cannot make a skimmer from this.

well actually, you can use the read head depending on the bezel, the rest of the ting is useless, the read head is pretty large but it can be done. not recommended though.

no you cannot grab info from the magtek micro controller..

tdotwire6 is wrong. you can reuse the magtek chip if you want, but you would have to remove the solder from the chip and the board. I would advise to just buy a new magtek chip. They are not expensive at all.. couple dollars..
