Long-lived dedics with xp on-board

In this article I would like to dwell on a few ways to prolong life of a dedic with WinXP2003 installed. Why do I talk of the XP? I often buy dedics with this OS for it is cheap. The problem is that they die either at once after you log in or in a few hours.

Now I have got a sort of tactics or method that is the result of my experience. Some sellers offer such dedics with an account ready to use and with a superuser’s authority, the other sell cheaper variants with administrator’s data only. Anyway in both cases it is absolutely impossible to get the warranty replacement.

First of all we should decide upon the main tools we are going to use. Here are the tools that I use, though there are many others.

mRemote1.50 - is a very advanced dedic manager, it is easy to use and it is easily tunneled with the main traffic proxification programmes.
Proxifier или SuperSocks5Cap - programmes for proxification of all (or selected) traffic from your computer to a proxy server and then further to the destination point. (I use the second programme more often).
TermiservXP - a Multiuser patch in XP, is meant to prevent the system discarding other users after you log in.
forDeds - a small exe file for creating an account on a dedic with a click or two.
HideFoldersXP - a programme to hide files, folders at the dedic and to lock access to them.
IpBot - this programme sends a message with the dedic’s IP to МастерUinIcq.
Clearlogs - is meant for deleting logs on a dedic.

That is the chief software that would help you to connect to a dedic and to entrench yourself. So let’s start…

You buy a dedic from a seller - the seller gives out an IP address and a couple of administrator’s login|pass. You can easily pinpoint the dedic’s location with the IP address, such service is available at MaxMind.com for example. In fact the seller specifies the location when you buy a dedic. Then you start looking for Socks5 anywhere: at Internet forums, sites or you can buy it. You’d better buy it in the same state to keep up the Internet speeds. Enter the Socks into the Proxifier or SuperSocks5Cap and launch it. Further you launch mRemote at the SOCKS proxy server you have chosen. In the dedic manager you create a new connection and set the parametres by the seller. Now you can get connected actually, but you’d better not hurry.

After you get connected with the dedic in most cases «Alert» will be displayed. There will be stated that after you log in under the administrator’s account, user’s session on the other side will be finished. Then there will be very little time left for you to do all the necessary things. That is why before logging in at the dedic you should zip (preferably with a password) the following files (Zip can be read at all XP formats): Termiserv, forDeds, HideFoldersXP, IpBot, Clearlogs. This will be you main “alarm case”. However, just in case you’d better create the Lite version, with Termiserv and forDeds only. Then you upload these two zip-files at a foreign file hosting service and create a .txt document with the names of the zip-files, passwords and link references, and also the future account name and its password. If you postpone these steps and then take them after you log in at the dedic, you will have to do everything in a hurry with a risk of Disconnect.

Next you get connected with the dedic, push O'key and enter it. Then initiate IE at once and upload your files. If the speed is low, then you will have enough time to create your own folder at the dedic, while waiting at the rapid.share.com. for 30 seconds. You can also upload zip-files at Sendspace.com with no waiting time. Usually I create files in the directory C:\WINDOWS\system32\DirectX\Dinput (see the screenshot at the bottom) Upload there one of the two zip-files you have chosen, then un-zip it, apply the multiuser patch, and create an account,according to previously prepared data of a txt file. Now you could reboot with the shutdown-r command in the console not to make anyone wait till you complete. Or if there is no inimical activity noticed you can continue and launch IpBot. It can be detected by the antivirus programmes - for this reason there is no sense to launch it on such computers., just to check if the IP is dynamic (type “ipconfig” in the console to see the result). Then you have to do the reboot and enter under your account.

So now you just have to cross your fingers, though problems are unlikely at this stage. In a few minutes you log in under your account and set HideFoldersXP in the folder you have created. During the instalation you shouldn’t create any file shortcuts, untick the boxes where necessary. Then launch the programm and choose “Add” the folder папку C:\Documents and Settings\Local_service in the programme options choose Hide , so now even TotalCmd can’t see it. My advice is - do not hide your folder, just choose “Hide” in the programm attributes or change the attributes to “System attributes” through Cmd. You can check who else is present or was present on the dedic, for sometimes in “My computer” you can come across «..uzver documents» or some other betrayal stuff of the computer naighbours. So, what’s next? Now you can perform the tasks your dedic is meant for. The chain you deal with looks as follows: “You---> Socks5 ---> Dedic --->...»:

It goes without saying that it is dangerous to upload files or install programmes to a remote computer. However in this case only one programme is installed and it leaves almost no marks (just don’t forget to tick the right boxes in settings after installation) You can check he connection to the dedic with Proxy server, or with help of Cmd\netstat. (see the screenshot).

Further the rest of the software is uploaded the same way through File hosting services. Make sure you use only portable software at the dedic: Proxifier Portable, Mozilla Portable и т.д. At the end you can clean the system using the Clearlogs. When doing it don’t forget to shut down the antivirus programme, otherwise it will detect the Clearlogs. At the bottom here is an explanatory screenshot. Also it is worth noting that at the first stage you should do everything very fast. At this stage the computer is not run in Miltiuser mode and the dedic user may be discarded by the system. Finally I’d like to say that it is worth installing SSH server on such dedics to use it as an intermediate link: for sometimes you have to deal with computers with the speed 20 Мбит. It is impossible to use them for a long time, so you have to automatize your software installation and minimize time of your “deploying for action” - it’s such a third-rate variant of VPN. I have never done (so far) such enrollments, but I think that long-lived dedics will be useful, because you have to wait for a few days for a change of billing online - that’s why it is not recommended to change IP address. Many use VPN, but no one can be sure that no logs are run.
