Ziv Medical Center has already been attacked three times since the beginning of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

A group of hackers allegedly linked to Iran claimed to have stolen thousands of medical records from Ziv Medical Center hospital in Israel. According to them, among the stolen data are records of Israeli military personnel.

The attack on a hospital located in the town of Safed, near the borders with Syria and Lebanon, resulted in unauthorized access to 500 GB of data dating back to last year. This data includes about 700 thousand documents containing personal and medical information of patients, such as types of diseases and prescribed medications.

In its Telegram channel, a group calling itself the Malek Team, which claimed responsibility for the attack, began publishing documents, including alleged data from the Israeli Armed Forces (IDF).

The date of the attack on the hospital was not specified, but the Israeli National Cybersecurity Authority last week warned of an incident affecting the computer systems of Ziv Medical Center.

According to the statement, the incident was quickly detected and contained, without affecting the operation of the medical center. As a precautionary measure, the hospital temporarily shut down its electronic server and some computer systems.

The security team has launched an investigation to find out if the information that the hackers are talking about really leaked. However, the results of this investigation have not yet been published.

According to the Israeli newspaper The Jerusalem Post, this is the third cyber attack on Ziv Medical Center in the last four months. Local media reported that the hospital and the Israeli data protection authority still acknowledged that there were signs of information leaks from the hospital's systems.

Israeli authorities have banned the use, transmission or distribution of any stolen information and have announced their intention to bring charges against all those involved in the incident.

Hackers from the Malek Team also claimed responsibility for cyber attacks on other sites in Israel, including the Ono Academic College, as well as some Israeli technology and media companies.

Hackers published a wealth of evidence of the stolen data, including videos of university classes and interviews with candidates, as well as scans of their victims passports and documents. The authenticity of these data has not yet been independently evaluated.

The number of cyber attacks has increased many times against the background of the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian military group Hamas. In this regard, hospitals and other medical institutions in Israel should take a better approach to their cybersecurity in order to protect confidential patient information from detractors.
