The 28-year-old Kherson resident was the organizer who attracted two accomplices aged 26 and 29. The scammers called people, pretended to be taxi drivers, and gained access to victims' accounts through a four-digit code to cancel the order. As a result, fraudsters gained access to a person's account and ordered transportation services from him. At the time when the taxi was heading to the order address, the attackers called from another number and asked the driver to replenish their mobile phone account and also buy food, drinks, and the like for conspiracy. After the money was credited, the connection with the scammers immediately disappeared. After that, they withdrew funds from their mobile phones to bank cards through other payment applications.

Law enforcement officers established the involvement of the group in more than 30 episodes, the total amount of losses is at least 113 thousand hryvnias. Searches were carried out, bank cards, phones, SIM cards and drugs were seized.

One of the suspects has been wanted since February 2024. Operational-search measures were carried out by employees of the Criminal Investigation Department. The police established the location of the attacker and detained him.

Earlier, the organizer and his accomplice were notified of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 4 of Article 190 "Fraud committed on a large scale, or through illegal transactions using computer technology" of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Investigators have completed the pre-trial investigation of the criminal proceedings.

The indictment was approved by the Kherson District Prosecutor's Office and sent to the court. The attackers face up to eight years in prison.
