In this article, you can find out who carders are, how to protect your money on plastic, and why you should overwrite the code on the back. It also shows how fraudsters can obtain your bank card information, how they use it, and most importantly, how to protect themselves and their finances from such attacks.

You probably have a plastic card. Convenient, isn't it? You can pay for purchases on the Internet, services, tickets, and you don't need to go anywhere. And it seems like no one can steal hard earned money. No, maybe. How can she.

Who are carders?

Carders are scammers who steal exclusively from bank cards. If they suddenly brought you a terminal, and the operation did not go through it, and then they brought a new one, and everything is in order with it, then it's time to be on your guard. Perhaps the scammers have just copied the data of the magnetic stripe and are carefully watching what you enter in the pin code. After that, the criminals create a duplicate card and withdraw all money from it. All you have to do is light up your card, and now you are already paying someone for purchases on the Internet. The most trivial way to lose all the money from the card is to write the pin code on the card. People often lose their cards or forget them at ATMs. This is what scammers use. Attackers can create a site that looks very similar to, for example, the site of your bank. The address will differ by only one number or letter. The user, not suspecting anything, will enter his data on such a site. Or, perhaps, you received letters like: "You just won two thousand dollars, urgently click on the link" or "Here is a photo from the last party, rather look." You follow the link or open the letter. As a result, a virus is installed on your computer or phone, and the next time you pay for a communal apartment, all your data will be leaked. Carders call the phone and often introduce themselves as bank employees, informing that a failure has occurred in the bank and to restore your card, you need to provide the data and number. If the carders steal your card details, this is not the saddest thing that can happen. Most likely they will sell the card on the "Dark Internet", and then they will buy prohibited substances on it, finance unknown organizations and who knows what else ...

How to protect your finances?

It is pretty easy to protect yourself from carders. Here are some simple steps to follow to make sure your card is safe:
• Never tell anyone the card number, the code on the back, and especially the pin code, even to bank employees. This can only be done if you have come to the bank yourself.
• When you enter the pin code, cover the board with your hand. Be sure to take a closer look at the ATM. Is there any suspicious overlays on it, and is there any glue PayPaling out near the card receiver.
• Connect SMS notification to see all expenses at once.
• Do not open suspicious emails.
• Memorize and cover the code on the back.
• Install a good antivirus on your computer and phone.
• Password for entering payment services must be secure.

If the carder managed to take your money away, immediately call the bank and block the card. Then go to the department and write a statement.

Fraudsters take advantage of people's security and ignorance. Most of these crimes occur with the help of calls or SMS messaging on behalf of the bank. So, if you want to protect yourself, your finances and your personal data, do not respond to this kind of spam.
