The Cyber Police of Ukraine have detained four citizens suspected of extorting 250,000 USDT (10 million hryvnias) from an online business owner.

According to the case file, the incident occurred in May. The 20-year-old victim said that unknown persons introduced themselves as law enforcement officers and accused him of treason, allegedly because of cooperation with the Russian Federation. In order to prevent the case from proceeding, the entrepreneur was required to transfer $250,000 in cryptocurrency to a wallet.

The defendants cashed out the amount received through an exchanger. Cyber police tracked the movement of funds and identified the extortionists - residents of Kyiv and the region.

Bank cards, computer equipment, mobile phones, premium cars, fake IDs of journalists and members of public law enforcement groups, ammunition, cash in the amount of almost $ 7000 and over 63,000 hryvnias were seized.

The issue of choosing a preventive measure for the suspect is being decided. If proven guilty, they face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
