In the Udmurt Republic, the Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Izhevsk has completed the investigation of a criminal case on charges of a 26-year-old previously convicted unemployed local resident in a series of remote fraud.

According to investigators, the young man from March 2022 to February of this year on one of the Internet services posted ads for the sale of various things at low prices. In the course of correspondence with potential buyers, he asked to transfer the full prepayment of goods to his bank card. After receiving the money, the accused did not fulfill his obligations, did not send the offered products, stopped contacting and blocked accounts. Thus, he managed to steal 267 thousand rubles from 33 victims.

As a result of operational search activities, the attacker was detained by employees of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Udmurt Republic. It turned out that he spent the stolen money on personal needs.

Currently, the materials of the criminal case initiated under Parts 1 and 2 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, with the indictment sent to the court. The defendant is under house arrest.
