The suspects, who extorted 900 thousand rubles from an IT specialist from Tyumen under the threat of harm to their lives for refusing to develop software for stealing money from bank accounts, were detained in Moscow, the Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk regions. This was reported to TASS in the FSB Directorate for the Tyumen region.
"Attackers, under the threat of harm to life and health, extorted money from a specialist in the field of IT technologies for refusing to develop malicious software in order to steal funds from citizens' bank accounts. The suspects were detained on the territory of the city of Moscow, the Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk regions," the report said.
Two of the detainees are Russian citizens, the third is a stateless person.
On this fact, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Tyumen region initiated a criminal case under paras. "a", "d" of Part 2 of Article 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (extortion committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy on a large scale). The detainees were taken into custody as a preventive measure. Currently, other episodes of illegal activities are being identified.
