Investigators found out that the carder purchased SIM cards in closed groups of one of the messengers, as well as subscriber numbers with logins for entering the personal account of applications of online banks of citizens. In the first case, the suspect used SIM cards in his criminal activities, the numbers of which were linked to a portal providing public services. The person involved changed the password from the citizen's personal account and subsequently received full access to personal data. Taking advantage of this, the fraudster issued loans to microfinance organizations and transferred the funds received to controlled accounts of figureheads.
According to operational information, the attacker used more than 300 subscriber numbers, each of which belonged to a specific citizen.
In the second case, the attacker acted similarly, only all operations were performed in the personal accounts of users of online applications of various banks.
During the inspection report, as well as a search of the detainee's home, 287 SIM cards, 6 mobile phones, a laptop, bank cards and other items of evidentiary value for criminal cases were seized.
It was previously established that 22 residents from different regions of Russia suffered from fraudulent actions of the detainee. In total, citizens lost more than 10 million rubles.
Currently, employees of the UBK Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Rostov region are carrying out the necessary measures aimed at establishing additional episodes of criminal activity of the detainee.
Investigators opened criminal cases against the attacker on the grounds of crimes provided for in Part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and Part 2 of Article 272 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The defendant was detained in accordance with Article 91 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation.
