Salaries of Russian programmers working for themselves (freelancers) increased by an average of 40% and exceeded 145 thousand rubles. Copywriters and system analysts also began to earn more, but their earnings growth is not nearly as big as that of developers. However, they are not record holders in this matter – they are far ahead in this regard, specialists who are completely unrelated to IT.

Hundreds of thousands of rubles in exchange for program code

The income of Russian freelance specialists showed a serious growth trend in the first half of 2024, representatives of the service for working with freelancers Solar Staff told CNews. Among the leaders in salary growth are programmers who do not want to work for one employer and are listed in the staff of one company.

According to Solar Staff statistics, in the first half of 2024, the average salary of freelance developers increased by 40% compared to the first six months of 2023. From now on, it is 147 thousand rubles. per month.

At the same time, the income of individual specialists can vary greatly. They depend on their professional skills, work experience, and a whole host of other parameters, including their tax status. As calculated by Solar Staff, the highest average monthly income is earned by those performers who work as sole proprietors or individuals.

Who else makes a lot of money

Freelance programmers are not the only representatives of the IT sector who began to earn more – Solar Staff told CNews that freelance system analysts also received a salary increase. But they began to receive an average of only 8% more. However, even with this in mind, their average salary is higher than that of freelance developers – 181 thousand rubles.

Recall that many Russian IT professionals do not want to be tied to a specific office. Even full-time employees, under threat of dismissal, demand that employers release them from the "office shackles" and allow them to work remotely. Tellingly, this applies primarily to experienced IT professionals. In other words, companies risk losing valuable employees if they deny them the opportunity to stay out of the office.

As for freelancers, they are not required to visit the office by default, since they are not registered in the state.

It is still unprofitable to be a non-employee

In the Solar Staff report, it is freelance programmers and system analysts who earn on average more than other rating participants, although they are not the record holders for average salary growth. The first place in this plan is held by recruiters (53% year-on-year), but even taking into account the increase, their average salary is 46.3 thousand rubles.

The average salary of text editors increased by 34%, but only to 67 thousand rubles, that is, they receive on average half as much as freelance programmers. Graphic designers received an 8% increase – up to 56.5 thousand rubles per month on average.

Also, Solar Staff analysts recorded an increase in average monthly income by 16% for marketing managers (up to 95 thousand rubles) and by 21% for copywriters (up to 41,2 thousand rubles/).

The only people who are not in the IT field, and who in the new Solar Staff report can compare with programmers in terms of salary, are freelance financial managers. They now receive an average of 143 thousand rubles, an increase of 14% year-on-year.

Everything has a reason

Vladimir Koritsky, CEO of Solar Staff, believes that the growth in income of Russian project performers, including programmers and copywriters, is "a result of the growing demand for qualified services in key industries." "Developers, copywriters and marketers provide the necessary skills that help companies stay competitive and develop dynamically in the market –" Vladimir Koritsky told CNews. – This trend reflects global changes, where flexibility, specialized competencies, and responsiveness are becoming key success factors in an ever-evolving digital marketplace."

According to Koritsky, the increase in salaries of Russian freelancers is a direct sign that " the market is adapting to new economic challenges and actively integrating flexible forms of employment." "For example, recruiters have become more in demand due to the acceleration of digital transformation and the growing demand for qualified personnel in the IT sector, while financial managers receive more due to the desire of companies to improve their financial performance and optimize operational activities," Vladimir Koritsky told CNews.
