Employees of the Department for Combating Cybercrime of the Brest Region Internal Affairs Directorate identified a 24-year-old resident of the regional center who was involved in illegal cryptocurrency trafficking.
Investigators found out that the defendant made transactions on specialized exchanges, where he acted as an intermediary. In this way, funds were cashed and converted, including those stolen from Belarusian citizens. Illegal turnover exceeded 230 thousand rubles.
When he was caught red-handed while making a transaction, the young man’s smartphone and computer, used for illegal earnings, were confiscated.
An administrative protocol was drawn up for illegal business activities. The violator faces a large fine and the confiscation of the seized devices, as well as the entire amount passed through the crypto wallet, to the state.
