i just bought new laptop but has window 7 on it. How do u get the computer to recognize that the msr 406 is hooked up. Do i need some other type of software to get the computer to see that the msr is hooked up? i was running windows on old laptop but new computers has upgrades of windows 7. pls will some help thanks?

Yep the 406 doesn't work on win7. I suggest to install a normal XP on a virtual machine that's always better.

Well yes, you can do that! Put win xp cd-rom and go in BIOS!
Change "boot" as "booting from cd-rom" and after save and exit! Well you will able to delete your win7 from your HDD and install xp!

But there is an other easier solution for you! As tonicooperi said you should install VMware and you will able to create an other desktop in your laptop which can be xp!!!
