A brilliant thief or why smart people go to crime.
Introduction to the book.
Since I am a big fan of watching interviews, in particular Dudya, I often get interviews of less well-known authors in YouTube recommendations.
From one time I noticed that I constantly come across a video called "interview with a carder". I didn't want to watch it, because I didn't know the author of the channel and what kind of word is that? Carder..
Something boring probably.
And yet I watched it! YouTube's algorithms have done their job. To say that I wasn't disappointed is an understatement. The most informative interview, the most extensive, in terms of new information for me.
Immediately I went to look for a book by Sergey Pavlovich, that was Carder's name, and started reading it on the first day after watching the interview.
Who is Sergey Pavlovich?
Born in 1983, in Belarus. From an early age, he started doing clothing carding.
Duffel carding, as I understand it, is when you illegally acquire data about a credit card that has money on it. You enter this information in an online store and buy the item. For example, a brand-new phone, branded clothing, and expensive jewelry. These items are delivered to you or another person, which are then sold on the black market.
This is exactly what Sergey did as a teenager. But then he ordered inexpensive things, for example, once he ordered a bouquet of flowers.
But gradually the requests started to grow. And the further, the more and more. According to Sergey, at the peak of his work, he had more than a million dollars. Became an accomplice of Albert Gonzalez, who was convicted of stealing 170,000,000 credit cards for 20 years in prison. Just think about it! 170 million people were affected...
In general, after reading Sergey's book, I can tell you a lot, but for now I will limit myself to the above.
What is the book about? Lots of terms?
The title of the book contains the word "confession". Is this book a confession? Perhaps. The author does not apologize for what he did, but he is clearly not proud of it.He admits that he was unfaithful to his girlfriend, that he was flattered to communicate with people engaged in dark business. He was young and made a lot of mistakes.
As I read this book, I was struck by the sheer scale of what was happening. The author talks about everything he knows. In an interview, he admitted that he was afraid that the book might become a guide for novice carders. And there is some truth in this.
Sergey explains everything on his fingers. What are "dumps", "pins", "skimmer", etc. Personally, this did not encourage me to engage in crime?. On the contrary, it made me look carefully at the email messages, in the address bars, and in general become more attentive. Don't spread out your data.
And I think this is a huge plus of the book.
The book is non-linear, at first it didn't infuriate me much, but I quickly got used to it. There are several storylines.
Prison. It tells how hard it was to sit. About all the difficulties and regrets. Who doesn't know Sergei was jailed for 10 years in Belarus. It was there that he wrote this book.
Legal process. It tells how he was caught, how he had to explain to the lawyer what exactly he was doing.
How it all started. Why carding? First mistakes.
Digressions and historical facts. Very interesting. Many interesting personalities from the shadow business, including Albert Gonzalez.
End of the book. The message.
The end of the book is sad. Everything leads to the expected end. The holiday can't last forever. Everyone will be caught someday. The fate of 80% of the people mentioned by Sergey was reduced to a prison sentence. Sergey was jailed for 10 years, which was considered "easy to get off". After all, many were jailed for 20 years, some even for life.
True, there were also those who were not even attracted, one of them is a very interesting character founded his own legal business and ran for deputy))
A moment in the book that made me laugh like crazy for five minutes.
In short, from a carder who steals money... MY OWN MONEY WAS STOLEN. But the thief burned down his IP, which made his location easily recognizable. Sergey found out the apartment number through his "friends" and called... And Grandma answered! She said she didn't know anything about it. He lives with his eleven-year-old grandson Nikita and doesn't know any carders, web wallets, etc.
After a while, all the money, and this is a considerable amount!, - it was returned. They returned it even before he called that apartment. A letter was written to Sergey, where the thief apologizes and says that he "made a mistake" and did not want to cause inconvenience. He sent the money to another wallet and Sergey was able to return it to himself.
As a result, he came to the conclusion that exactly that 11-year-old Nikita is the thief! Because he was so inexperienced that he even managed to burn down his IP address, which is an unforgivable mistake in such a case.
Here is such a story) The Great carder was held by a boy who lives with his grandmother. In the Internet age, anything is possible.
Output about the book.
The book is very sincere. It opened the door to another reality for me. A reality where you can decide all your money in just one click!
Think a hundred times before you commit something completely illegal. It's not worth it.
Now Sergey has already been released, moved away from crime. He created a legal cashback service and runs his own YouTube channel "People Pro". I advise you to read it.
Carding - fraud with payment cards, carding (from the English carding) — a type of fraud in which an operation is performed using a payment card or its details, not initiated or confirmed by its holder.
