Help regarding email

Hello teachers! I have this problem. I'm in guest mode. It's asking for the email address of the person I'm going to give it to. I thought that wasn't necessary. I thought it would give me a code and then I could give that code to whomever I want. I would appreciate it if you could explain this to me. Thank you very much in advance!
