The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on the fact of major fraud with network cards.

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation is investigating the case of large-scale theft of Detsky Mir gift certificates. According to information from the case materials available to RIA Novosti, the attackers stole almost 4.5 thousand electronic gift certificates and company cards.

According to the investigation, the criminals made unauthorized connections to the Detsky Mir website. Using special computer programs to bypass security measures, they brute-qualified numbers and PIN codes for 4,459 electronic gift certificates and cards. Thus, the attackers received the right to use other people's prepaid cards.

A criminal case was opened on the fact of the incident under two articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation: fraud in the field of computer information and the use of malicious computer programs. The investigation is being carried out by the Department for the Investigation of Cybercrimes and High-Tech Crimes of the Main Investigation Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
