Sky Mavis co-founder Geoffrey Zirlin reported the hacking of two personal wallets. The attackers managed to withdraw 3248 ETH worth about $9.7 million.

This has been a tough morning for me.

Two of my addresses have been compromised.

The attack is limited to my personal accounts, and has nothing to do with validation or operations of the Ronin chain.

Additionally, the leaked keys have nothing to do with Sky Mavis operations.…

"The attack is limited to my own accounts and has nothing to do with the validation or operation of the Ronin network. In addition, the key leak has nothing to do with Sky Mavis operations, " said Zirlin.

According to PeckShield, hackers have withdrawn funds from the Ronin bridge and have already transferred them to the Tornado Cash cryptomixer.

Another co-founder of Sky Mavis, Alexander Leonard Larsen, also stated that there are no problems with Ronin, and the wallet was compromised in the way that "happens in every blockchain".

"The bridge itself has the highest level of security, has passed many inspections and is put on pause when too many funds are withdrawn," he added.

Sky Mavis, the studio behind the development of Axie Infinity, announced the return of $5.7 million stolen from the Ronin sidechain.

The funds were returned with the assistance of the Norwegian National Office for Investigation and Prosecution of Economic and Environmental Crimes.

"~15% of the recovered assets will be used to cover the costs and expenses incurred by those who participated in the recovery [of funds]. The remaining 85% will be deposited in the treasury of Axie Infinity," the report says.

Representatives of Sky Mavis added that law enforcement agencies froze "individual assets worth $40 million." Their return will take some time, and the studio could not name a specific time frame.
