The Federal Security Service of Russia for the Stavropol Territory has documented the illegal activities of local residents involved in the use of malicious software. The men used malware that allowed them to illegally obtain data about the usernames and passwords of citizens to access email and crypto wallets. The data obtained was used to steal money.
Based on the results of operational search activities, a criminal case was initiated under Part 2 of Article 273 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The men were found guilty by the court verdict. One received 1 year and 6 months of suspended imprisonment with a probation period of 1 year. The other received 1 year and 2 months of suspended imprisonment with a probation period of 1 year. The third was punished with 1 year and 4 months of suspended imprisonment with a probationary period of 1 year.
