Bribes should never be given to anyone, especially to an official, this is Article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. But in our country it is clear that if you don’t grease the whistle, you won’t go. However, you need to clearly know the consequences of your own actions and… act according to the situation.

So, what does the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation say on this matter:
  • a fine from 500 thousand to 4 million rubles;
  • a fine in the amount of the salary or other income of the bribe giver for a period of up to 4 years;
  • a fine from 5 to 90 times the amount of the bribe;
  • correctional labor for up to 2 years with a simultaneous ban on holding certain jobs;
  • forced labor for up to 3 years;
  • prison or a penal colony for up to 15 years, along with a fine of 5 to 70 times the amount of the bribe.

If the punishing hand is already hanging over you, that is, the case has reached the court, urgently look for mitigating circumstances. For example, the official himself extorted money from you. As, in fact, often happens.

The simplest and most common case of bribery happens on the road. Every driver once a week, or even every other day, faces a situation - to give or not to give. And, as a rule, decides to give, because it is easier and faster. Yes, the inspector usually hints with all his actions: 500 - 1000 rubles and you are free. Otherwise ... a waste of time, nerves and a larger amount.

When talking to a traffic police inspector, do not openly offer a bribe, do not name the amount. Take, for example, your insurance, put the necessary bill in it, hand it to the representative of the authorities.

Do not do this in his car - there is a video recording there all the time. Call the inspector from the car, silently hand him the license, insurance, etc. "with a lamb". He takes it - great! But sometimes you come across an honest one, then a fine, and in case of deprivation of rights, also a trial are inevitable, alas...

As is known, traffic police inspectors have a plan and show events to catch violators. If you get caught in a PR distribution, you will have to resign yourself. You see that the inspector does not make contact and lures you in front of the camera, resign yourself, do not resist. Do not shove money anywhere under any circumstances! It will be cheaper to submit.

As for other civil servants, they usually value their warm place and do not risk it without serious need. If the amount of the bribe is insignificant, the game is not worth the candle for them. After all, you can fly out of a good job...

However, you have your own need. Proceed carefully.
If you do not know anyone from the entourage of the official being processed, you can ask him himself who is able to solve your urgent problem positively. Most likely, he will name the necessary contacts and hint at the preferred type of "gratitude" - not everyone and not always takes money.

On TV, brave law enforcement officers dash into an office and catch a "scoundrel - a bribe-taker" red-handed - they take fingerprints, record the presence of luminous powder on his palms, check the numbers of the bills, and now the werewolf is led to the lock-up. Justice prevails, the fight against werewolves in uniform is in full swing.

But in real life...?
Traditionally, when the word bribe is mentioned, a persistent image of the transfer of bills between the participants in the relationship arises: a driver - a traffic police inspector, a businessman - an official, an official - another official. Meanwhile, the operation of law enforcement agencies to identify and neutralize a bribe-taker is one of the most difficult and delicate tasks.

If someone was caught with a marked banknote - this is the easiest thing. As a rule, bribes are openly taken by extremely greedy or very influential persons who feel their impunity. Bribe-takers are very cautious people, you can't fool them with chaff. They will never touch the "lamb" until they are absolutely sure of their impunity and safety. An experienced bribe-taker always has a trusted person who will take away the material assets. And then, a "gift" is not always money. The famous hero of a classic literary work, as we know, took greyhound puppies. A good puppy or a horse is expensive, it’s not a sin to exchange another for a car, but try to prove that it’s a bribe… And the money can be transferred to a charity, sent to the account of a Swiss company, paid for a vacation for the bribe-taker’s family in Cyprus, for the education of the official’s son in Oxford, and for the daughter in Harvard, and who knows what else you can come up with. And try to prove it… You are a philanthropist, you support young talents. In the end, you can arrange for the bribe-taker’s cousin to work for you as a secretary. You will pay her, and she will do nothing, not even show up for work. There are a great many ways.

Now let’s talk about the “code” language, there’s no way without it. Otherwise… they’ll catch you.
One entrepreneur, let’s call him Marat, was transporting agricultural products from Dagestan. There was a mobile customs point along the route, and naturally, the authorities stopped him. They asked him to show all the proper documents for the cargo.

The employee, having carefully checked the papers, turned an unambiguous glance at the businessman and said: "We must wait!" Then he returned the folder to our businessman. The businessman left the office puzzled: what or whom should he wait for? Peaches are spoiling, strawberries are withering... Suddenly an idea occurred to him: the offer to wait (we must wait!) should be understood not in two words, but in three: - "We must give!" He took a certain amount of money out of his wallet, attached it with a paper clip to the back of the document. After which, inspired by the guess, he entered the trailer again. The employee took the documents in his hands, the dollars silently fell to the bottom of the desk drawer. He returned the documents to the businessman again, with different words: "We must wait for the boss!"

The man was confused. He had almost reached his destination, there was little money left. From experience he knew that it was useless to argue with customs, he again attached the green paper to the back of the documents. And finally, he got the long-awaited visa.

Marat's brother decided to buy a plot of land and open a store on it. At that time, plots were put up for sale on a tender basis.

The guy collected all the documents, took them to the appropriate organization, the official accepted them, checked them, and suggested coming the next morning. The entrepreneur came.

Once again, after looking through the documents, the official looked at the businessman and said: come back in two days. He came again, and again the meeting was postponed for two days. This went on for a week. Finally, the official ran out of patience: “Don’t you have a couple of thousand dollars?!” he cried. And the sum he laid out immediately solved all the problems.

To sum up, there are two main points. First, be careful, don’t give yourself away, don’t say or do anything unnecessary or illegal until you are sure that they are “playing along”.

How to recognize that an official/authority employee is ready to accept a bribe comes with experience. But if you can read people’s minds, understand what drives them, have intuition, you are lucky!

Be attentive and observant, catch hints, make hints yourself, watch the reaction. The main thing is not to turn off your brain. An attempt to bribe a riot police officer who is leading a raid on the city's night streets will almost always end badly. It would be a sin not to "help" a lonely patrolman who is clearly deprived of finances and attention from his superiors.
