Kaspersky laboratory has a rating of the safest messengers for communication.

Kaspersky laboratory conducted a study in which she compared popular messengers according to various criteria: encryption, authentication, anonymity and others. The results showed that no messenger provides complete protection of user data, but some of them stand out for their advantages.

Apple Imessage, Facebook* Messenger, Google messages, Signal, Telegram, WhatsApp were tested. The rating of messengers according to the Kaspersky laboratory is as follows:

Signal
Advantages: Provides through encryption (End-to-End Encryption, E2e) for all chats, stores encrypted backups, allows you to compare encryption keys, completely hides and does not store metadata, offers self-destructive messages, allows you to turn off the pre-examination of links and block the perpetrates;
Disadvantages: you can not register without a phone number and there is no connection with other services or accounts;

WhatsApp
Advantages: E2EE for all chats, encrypted backups, comparison of encryption keys, self -destructive messages, the ability to communicate with other accounts or services;

Disadvantages: E2EE is not available for all chats and groups, the encryption protocol is not verified, does not have encrypted backups, a phone number is required for registration, stores metadata and has no relations with other services or accounts.

Facebook Messenger
Advantages: E2EE in special types of chats and groups, comparing encryption keys, hiding the phone number from contacts, the possibility of complex registration without phone number, communication with other services or accounts, and a notification of screenshot;

Kaspersky laboratory experts recommend that users choose messengers depending on the needs and goals of communication, as well as comply with digital hygiene rules: use two -factor authentication (2FA), do not transmit personal data through messengers, do not open suspicious links and files, do not use the same passwords for different services etc.
