The Leninsky District Court of Minsk has issued a guilty verdict against 13 members of an organized criminal group that seized the money of more than 900 victims through call centers, BelTA has learned.

Taking into account the position of the public prosecutor, twelve defendants for embezzlement of property by modifying computer information and fraud were sentenced to terms of 6 to 10 years in prison with a fine of 50 to 1 thousand BV (1 BV - Br37). The smallest sentence - 6 years and 50 BV - was assigned to the accused, who at the time of the end of the commission of crimes was a minor.

In addition, one person involved, who is also accused of forging documents, was sentenced to 9 years in prison with a fine of 1,000 BV.

During the judicial investigation, it was established that the defendants joined an organized criminal group, which, through call-centers, was engaged in criminal activities related to taking possession of citizens' funds through fraud and modification of computer information. For 7 months, under the guise of bank employees or law enforcement agencies, scammers persuaded citizens to provide access to their personal accounts.

According to the state prosecutor, assistant prosecutor of the Leninsky district of Minsk, Nikita Plem, each of the accused, who were 17 to 34 years old at the time of the commission of the criminal acts, followed his predetermined role. Through Telegram, members of the organized crime group provided other members of the group with bank card details that were at their disposal. Then the money was transferred to the cards of the accused by entering false information into computer systems, cashed out at ATMs and distributed among the members of the organized group.

As a result of the criminal activities of the accused, about Br3 million were stolen.

The verdict has not entered into force, it can be appealed and protested on appeal.
