The Partizansky District Prosecutor's Office of Minsk supported the state prosecution in court in a criminal case against an 18-year-old and 17-year-old resident of the capital - they are charged with theft of property by modifying computer information as part of an organized group, and the adult is also charged with fraud.
According to the case materials, one of the accused, as a minor, no later than December 2021, and the second minor accused no later than January 2022, joined a criminal community that was engaged in theft of funds by modifying computer information, as well as taking possession of other people's money by deception.
In this community, young people acted as "droppers". They provided information about payment bank cards to other members of the organized group, and also looked for people willing to issue bank cards for themselves and transfer their details for a fee.
The accused knew that these payment cards would be used by the organized crime group members to steal money from individuals.
They then withdrew funds from ATMs that were deposited into their bank accounts, as well as accounts provided by "drops" for bank fraud schemes.
As a result of the illegal activity, the victims suffered damages in the amount of over 400 thousand rubles.
During the trial, the accused admitted their guilt in full.
Taking into account the evidence presented by the state prosecutor, the Partizansky District Court of Minsk issued a guilty verdict.
The adult accused was sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 5 years and 9 months in a general regime penal colony with a fine of 50 basic units (2 thousand rubles) without deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities, on the basis of Part 4 of Article 212, Part 4 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. The minor accused was sentenced under Part 4 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus to imprisonment for a term of 5 years in a correctional colony with a fine of 40 basic units (1.6 thousand rubles) without deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities.
The sentence has entered into legal force.
