Privacy protection interferes with the operation of social network X.

Domain Name Twitter.com now automatically redirects to X.com, which caused problems for users of the Mozilla Firefox browser with the Enhanced Tracking Protection feature enabled.

Firefox users who care about their privacy now see the following message on site X:

"Enhanced Tracking Protection (strict mode) in Firefox is known to cause problems on X.com."

The "Try again" button doesn't work and returns to the same screen. At the moment, the only solution is to disable the Enhanced Tracking Protection feature for X.com which reduces the level of privacy.

The Enhanced Tracking Protection feature in Firefox automatically blocks trackers that track users online activities and collect information about their habits and interests. This feature also protects against malicious scripts. The block covers social media trackers, cross-site cookies, fingerprinters, cryptominers, and other tracking content.

Mozilla claims that it does this "without breaking the functionality of the sites." However, this feature caused Site X to crash.

Amid a lot of complaints, some users noted that the problem may be unintentional.

"They just changed the domain to X (dot)com and are probably using some resources from the old twitter domain. Because of this, strict tracking protection does not work in Firefox," explained one of the developers.

Firefox support responded that they are aware of the issue.

"Our team is working on a fix. You can temporarily disable Enhanced Tracking Protection or change the mode from strict to normal to fix the problem, " representatives of Firefox on X.
