Expert Khrapunova: Fraudsters have started sending malicious files to Telegram.
A new method of fraud using photos containing malware has appeared in Telegram. This was reported on November 23 by Alla Khrapunova, an expert in the People's Front. Analytics department.
"Recently, we started receiving signals that Telegram users are receiving messages from unknown contacts asking: "Is that you in the photo?" But the photo itself is not visible, the message is closed for viewing, looks like a file and has the ARC extension," RIA Novosti quotes the expert as saying .
She specified that when downloading a file, people simultaneously install malicious software (SW) on their device, with the help of which fraudsters can obtain any information they need. In this way, attackers can steal, for example, login data for online banking applications.
Khrapunova added that this type of fraud is capturing a very large audience of different ages, and advised users to install an antivirus program on their devices that could successfully block malware, preventing fraudsters from stealing any data.
Earlier, on November 21, information security expert Taras Tatarinov reported that fraudsters are actively evolving as users become more knowledgeable and new means of protection and monitoring appear.
On the same day, Izvestia wrote that scammers had come up with a new scheme to deceive people using photographs on Telegram.
