Decision on buying Mag Stripe R/W?

I'm wondering what's entry level, and on which product I can get the most bang for my buck. MSR206 seems like it used to be standardized a couple years ago, then 606. However, on tyner a 206 is regular priced at around $500. In comparison, there are other models that have more functionality (support on Windows 7, 64 bit, etc.) yet cost almost $200 less. Why is this? Which model do you recommend me getting, if my price range was $200-$400
