Officers of the Spanish Civil Guard arrested a group of 33 people who are accused of committing cybercrimes. The total damage from the illegal activities of the criminals is estimated at about 400 thousand euros.

It is noted that these detentions took place as part of another operation to combat cybercrime.

As a result of this operation, seven more people are under investigation. The police raid was organized in the territories of four Spanish provinces at once - we are talking about Alicante, Valencia, Murcia and Madrid.

The suspects were charged with various crimes, including damage to computer systems, money laundering and participation in a criminal gang.

It is specified that the investigation began back in May of this year after numerous complaints were filed by residents of Burgos. As a result, the police identified a group that is engaged in the implementation of fraudulent schemes and defrauding people throughout the country. The list of victims includes at least 16 residents of the province of Burgos.

Among other things, it was possible to freeze several bank accounts and recover the stolen 133,500 euros. This is estimated at one third of the total amount of damage caused.

Law enforcement agencies said that the attackers used several deception schemes. So, they often contacted victims through social networks, and then offered money in exchange for photos, sold fake tickets to events through websites.

In addition, fraudsters issued loans in other people's names, offered fictitious investments in cryptocurrencies and engaged in fraud during purchase and sale transactions.
