Someone decided to add "interest" on the map of Cherepovets.

An unusual incident related to cybersecurity occurred in Cherepovets. Hackers broke into the transport tracking service, which was recently launched by the Center for Mobile Information Solutions and Technologies (CIRIT). The service allows passengers to see the location of public transport on the map, as well as get information about schedules and routes. To do this, just scan the QR code located at the bus stop.

However, on the night of August 24-25, the attackers gained access to the service and changed the names of the city's streets. At the same time, they used anti-Russian and offensive language, which we will not quote. Some of them may be considered extremist or incite violence. According to eyewitnesses, hackers also changed the service's logo to a symbol of anarchy.

Citizens discovered the hack on the morning of August 25 and began actively sharing screenshots on social networks. Some of them expressed outrage and bewilderment about what happened, while others laughed at the situation and joked that hackers had made the city more interesting. However, most agreed that this was a serious security breach and unacceptable interference with city services.

Representatives of the CIRI confirmed the fact of the attack and stated that they are taking all necessary measures to eliminate the consequences and prevent the recurrence of such incidents. They also apologized to the citizens for the inconvenience and asked them not to use the service until it is fully restored. As of the time of writing this news, the transport tracking service from TSMIRIT was temporarily unavailable.

The Mayor's Office of Cherepovets is also aware of the incident and intends to investigate the situation. A criminal case may be opened under Article 272 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Illegal access to computer information". This article provides for a fine of up to 300 thousand rubles or imprisonment for up to four years.
