When you receive a formalized bank card at the bank, do not be mistaken and think that the beautiful numbers embossed on its surface are the account number on which your money is stored. Money is not stored on the card, but on the bank account to which the payment card is linked. In parallel with the issuance of the card, the bank employees open a bank card account in the name of the client, to which the money is subsequently received - scholarships, pensions, salaries, transfers. The same situation is with obtaining a loan (credit card) or savings book - all operations are performed with a bank account, which has its own number. What it is, how it stands for, where it is applied, and how to find out the account number - read the article.

Card account number. What is it?
The bank account of the card is used by the bank to carry out all kinds of operations related to the receipt of money and their consumption at the first request of the client. This can be cash withdrawal, replenishment or transfer to another account, payment of utilities, making purchases through shops and the Internet, repayment of loans, and the whole range of services provided by the bank.

A bank account (aka settlement, card, card account, current or demand account) is an account consisting of strictly 20 digits used by the bank in order to keep records of all the client's monetary transactions.

The client is free to replenish his bank account and withdraw money as many times as he pleases - it is created for the purpose of frequent demand. One person can have several bank accounts in the same or different banks, as well as in different currencies.

Accounts can be opened in any bank working with individuals. persons, and the registration procedure is established by each credit institution, taking into account the requirements of the Central Bank (CB). When filling in a column with an account number in payment documents, all 20 digits go in a continuous row, extraneous separating characters (period, comma, dash) between the digits are not allowed.

How can I find out the account number?
Very often a situation arises when you need to find out the number of the card account (or savings book, or account for repaying a loan) to transfer funds to it. This can happen at work or in a pension fund, where accounting employees request it to transfer salaries (pensions), but you never know where it may be needed.

If we are talking about the card account number, then it has nothing to do with the 16-digit number stamped on the glossy surface of the plastic card. The card number is engraved, and if its validity period expires, then a completely different number may appear on the reissued card. The account number to which the card is linked is always unchanged.

So how do you find out your bank card account number?

1. When registering a card account, bank employees draw up an agreement for its opening and servicing in 2 copies, where the 20-digit account number will be indicated without fail. When receiving a credit card or loan, an application form (or loan agreement) is usually drawn up, which will also contain this information

2. The next way to find out the account number is a secret envelope with a dark inside , which contains the PIN-code of the plastic card - it is issued by the bank employee along with the card.

3. In the case when the account is old, and the envelope has long been lost (thrown out, burned), there is another loophole. If the bank has online services (for example, Internet banking or mobile banking) and you can register on its website, then when entering your personal account, the client will have access to all information about the bank card and its account number.

4. Using an ATM to receive money, on its screen you can see the account number from which cash is requested, this is the account of the plastic card. All that remains is to quickly write it down and continue the withdrawal operation, otherwise, after the set time has elapsed, the ATM may “eat” the card and it will have to be “released” by the bank employees. It should be noted that the card account number contains 20 (twenty) digits, and nothing else.
A risky way, but "who does not risk ..." - everyone knows the rest!

5. The most boring method is to call the branch of the bank where the card was received, inform about yourself all the ins and outs (that is, go through identification) - a secret code word (you give it yourself when you issue a card), date of birth (and so on ...) and get the information you want.

6. The way is even more boring - to go personally to the bank and, presenting a plastic card and passport, find out your account number.

Where the card account number is applied
The card account number is required to send money to it - transfers from relatives, salaries, pensions, scholarships, child benefits, assistance to the unemployed and other types of assistance from the state.

When making various payments to legal entities, it is also necessary (for example, payment of utilities or fines).

You must also provide your account number to receive money transfers from another country, in which case you may need complete data.
