The court found her guilty of a terrorist act for setting fire to the military enlistment office.

The court found guilty of a terrorist act (Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) 61-year-old Nadezhda Kornilova, who set fire to the building of the Usinsk military commissariat with Molotov cocktails. She was sentenced to five years in prison, reports TASS with reference to the Second Western District Military Court.

According to the agency, Kornilova did not recognize the motive and purpose of her actions, but confirmed that she made and threw two bottles of flammable liquid into the porch and door of the military enlistment office on April 11. At the same time, she filmed what was happening on a mobile phone camera and shouted pro-Ukrainian slogans. Employees of the military registration and enlistment office detained the woman, and the court sent her to a pre-trial detention center.

Kornilova claimed that she acted on the instructions of law enforcement officers and the bank, who called her on the phone. They allegedly told her that there was a criminal in the military registration and enlistment office building who wanted to steal her money, and that arson was necessary to detain him.

The Court took into account Kornilova's active contribution to the detection and investigation of the crime as a mitigating circumstance. The prosecutor demanded 12 years of imprisonment for the defendant.

Initially, Kornilova was charged with attempting to commit a terrorist act (Part 3 of Article 30, Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), but later it was replaced by committing a terrorist act.
