What can the new product offer and how will it affect the development of the industry as a whole?

Google announced the launch of Chrome Enterprise Premium, a new version of its web browser for enterprise users, supplemented with artificial intelligence technologies to improve security.

Using the "upgraded browser" will cost companies $6 per user per month. The event is very resonant, especially considering that charging for using a web browser was last practiced back in 1995 by Netscape with its Navigator Internet browser, which could not compete with Internet Explorer and quickly became free.

In recent years, many analysts, including Gartner, have predicted that by 2030, browsers will become key platforms for software distribution, data collection, access control, and remote work in the corporate sphere.

In light of these forecasts, Google, quoting Gartner, presents Chrome Enterprise Premium as the first step towards new browser monetization models.

Parisa Tabriz, Google's vice president of Chrome, emphasizes that Chrome is already a leader in browser security, setting standards and best practices for the entire industry. However, Chrome Enterprise Premium promises even more advanced security features for an additional fee.

A key feature of the browser will be "Context-aware access control" — a service aimed at reducing the risk of data leakage.

In addition to improved security features, subscribers will receive enhanced control over security policies, software updates, support for various protocols, as well as advanced reporting and forensic research capabilities.

Enterprise Premium also includes data protection and threat management features, including malware scanning, dynamic URL filtering, and site categorization.

This move by Google may be viewed with hostility by many skeptics, but it will somehow lead to a new era of web browsers, where unprecedented security and advanced capabilities for the corporate sector will become key requirements for leading browser platforms.

Charging for advanced features signals that web browsers are turning into powerful business tools that combine many functions at once, and not just serve as a means of accessing the network.

Regardless of how ordinary users react to this,it will probably soon become a ubiquitous monetization model, especially when other players in the web browser market come into play.
