AVS system????

ok im aware of what it is my question is this, how do you know when a shop uses AVS for the transactions?? my uqestion is about the shops that it goes through easy because they just ask for 16 digit a name and expiry or sometimes just 16 digit and expiry ..can they do AVS just with that or its just
to scare off fraud activity (your billing should match the statement bla bla)

or the only way they can do AVS is when they ask 3 in back??

AVS is address verification, not cvv verification. AVS checks for matching zip code and address.

so they can do address verification even if they dont ask the cvv on checkout??? damn i thought they needed that to identify the card
