An unusual robbery took place in Hartford, Connecticut in January 2020 when a New York City robbery gang used an Apple Watch to track down a drug dealer and steal $ 500,000 in cash from him.
Inventive bandits decided to use the Apple Watch as a GPS bug. They fixed the watch under the bumper of the drug dealer, and then tracked the location of the gadget through the Locator application and arrived at the place - to a hotel in the city of Hartford.
When the car stopped in the parking lot near the hotel, the robbers broke the window, but there was no money in the car. Then the owner of the car came out. The criminals beat him and took the key to the hotel room. There was a bag with $ 500,000 in cash.
The robbers decided to take a photo as a souvenir - they posed next to piles of money. The police detained the gang and found out that they were involved in a whole series of robberies and thefts in New York and its suburbs in 2019 and 2020. It is noteworthy that a lot of photos were found on the smartphones of the detainees, proving their involvement in the crimes.
