I hear all the time people getting cought doing all kinds of stuff. Every casino tracks every single person coming in and out with facial recognition systems that will make you shit a chicken.

Anyone can explain more?
Where it is implemented FOR SURE?
Like airports, customs spots, hotels?

Facial recognintion can mean different things, depends on context.

For example, you can make your computer offer login only to your face and block other people from trying to login. Such programs use complex algorithms that analyze a lot of things, like eye iris, movement, bones, etc.

I think that guy meant that, casinones use a database of the people who came there a lot of times and when he comes again, for example, the 15th time, the camera catches the person's face, search in the database of people, and then raises alarm to the security people to keep an eye on him. Got it ?

Facial recognition CCTV are implemented in airports too for allowing people to pass faster.

It's generally not easy to avoid being spotted by face recognition and detection systems because they use a rather solid algorithm to identify faces:

Based on the so-called Viola-Jones method, the algorithm examines the spatial relationships of an object captured in an image and looks for features commonly found in faces. Most faces have a dark region just above the eyes, while the cheek bones and nose bridge will appear lighter. When the algorithm detects enough such attributes, it guesses the object is a face. The method is generally regarded as effective. Errors are in favor of false positives, making it hard for unobstructed faces to escape notice when they aren't captured at an angle.

While the algorithm is effective, it can be fooled with make up applied to "alter the contrasts the technology looks for." Adam Harvey, a student at New York University, has discovered that "dark patterns applied around eyes and cheek bones" do this trick quite well by "throwing of the symmetry" and making you look silly.

While Harvey's approach isn't foolproof, it shows that face recognition and detection systems aren't perfect either. That and the fact that Mr. Bowie might've been on to something.

I know for sure all major casino's use facial recognition systems, The system is setup in casino's to catch known cheaters. I don't think it's used for catching criminals that the police are looking for. Mostly cheaters. If you look around the casino's their is usually a sign that states they use Facial Recognition. I know 100% that Caesars Palace uses it, I saw the sign last year when I went to Vegas for DEFCON.

Also most major airports have it also, but again probably only used for Terrorist. I have attached a article about the Panama Government buying the system from the US, it says in the article they use it at some US airports

I have talked to friends that use the system for work.

My friend works at a casino and other than using it for cheaters it is also for blacklisted players who self barred themself from going again.

Once the camera scans someone and matches it to the FRS an alert comes on (if the person is blacklisted) a beep or you call "alert" will tell the security to go towards to escort the person from the premises

What about traveling overseas etc u take on someones identity that is never going to have a passport.

But u already have a passport in the system for that country will you make it through or will the system search a database and identify you with your real identity love to know the answer to this.

cj7 BEST BUY don't use face recognition ,How they caught your friend was they sent out a memo to ALL the surrounding BEST BUY LP (lost prevention) with his picture from there sec.cams "be on lookout for this guy he use stolen cc" This happen sometime when u card the same place too many times.... Just some idiot with a get rich scheme, this technology will never work because it will cost to much for the banks. Hell the Usa has still not even began using chip and pin because banks don't give a fuck as the fdic covers fraud and it will cost them to much to implement.

This has nothing to do with chip and pin.

In your post you say "theres about 2 million atms worlwide and billions of banking customers" and then "imagine the cost it will take to install this technology". You just answered your question yourself.

This concept is also not ridiculous because new UK passports as well as other countries have biometric chips in them already. These contain information about your face, your eyes, the position of everything. This information obviously is not only used for fraud.

It is now hard to near impossible to get a legit passport from UK if you already previously had one.
