As you probably know, the VPN-TOR-VPN chain provides very good anonymity on the network. In today's article, you will learn how to install this chain on your computer.
I wish you a pleasant reading!
We will need a computer or laptop with Windows installed, VirtualBox, a whonix-Gateway image, a Windows 7 image (preferably in English), as well as some VPN service (preferably paid and not Russian).
Performing training.
1. Download and install VirtualBox, everything is simple here.
2. Download the Whonix image.
Whonix is a Debian-based Linux distribution designed to provide anonymity with VirtualBox and Tor tools. Its special feature is that neither malicious programs nor compromising the superuser account can lead to leaks of the IP address and DNS.
All software included with the system is pre-configured to meet security requirements
So, we downloaded Whonix Gateway, install virtualbox. Choose 500 megabytes of RAM, or as little as possible. (for those who pay attention, as well as pox default settings)
The win7 image of the English version is available on the rutreker. After downloading, create a new machine in VirtualBox and install Windows. This will be our working OS. It is advisable to allocate more memory to it for comfortable use
When both virtual machines are installed, go to the configuration.
Starting the setup process.
Launch Whonix-gateway and wait for the download. After starting the OS, open the terminal and write:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
They will ask for a password. (Default password is changeme)
After entering the password, the system will download the updates and install them. This completes the configuration of this OS.
We launch the Win 7 virtual machine, install the guest OS add-ons (VirtualBox itself will offer to do this). Next, go to the control panel -> Network and sharing center, select network connection, click Properties. Click on the line TCP/IPv4 and again Properties. And fill it out like this:
IP address 10.152.152.50
Subnet netmask 255.255.192.0
Default gateway 10.152.152.10
Preferred DNS server 10.152.152.10
Turn off the virtual machine, click on it in VirtualBox'e, click "configure". In the "Network" section, uncheck "Adapter 1", set it to" Adapter 2", connection type: Internal network, select Whonix from the drop-down menu.
Now our Windows virtual machine catches the network with Whonix, that is, the traffic of all programs on this virtual machine already goes through TOR, and the chains change in the same way as the tor browser.
Now we install a VPN client on our main Windows(not on a virtual machine).
The startup order is as follows:
Enabling VPN on the host.
We launch Whonix Gateway, wait for it to load, and collapse it.
Launch the Win7 virtual machine and enable the second VPN on it.
The VPN-TOR-VPN chain is ready. The entire setup takes 10-15 minutes, not counting the time to load images.
That's all. I hope you enjoyed the article and found the information useful.
