During this holiday period, nearly half of US residents are likely to avoid online shopping, which suffered at the hands of fraudsters last year, according to a study by CreditCards.com . This also applies to major retailers including Target, Home Depot and Neiman Marcus.

The study found that 45% of credit and debit card holders are likely to not make purchases from online stores that have been exposed to consumer identity breaches. This includes, among other things, the data of users' payment cards. At the same time, 29% of them, most likely, will not make purchases, even if they often used these stores before, and 16% categorically reacted negatively to the idea of further purchases from such retailers.

Despite this, a large percentage of housewives with high annual incomes (from $ 75,000 and more) intend to continue using the services of such stores. Only 31% of housewives with an annual income of $ 75,000 or more will abandon online stores affected by fraud, for example, this percentage of housewives with an income of less than $ 30,000 is 56%.

One in eight Americans is going to shop with their credit card during the holidays. Nevertheless, 48% of payment card holders plan to pay in cash, due to cases of leakage of users' payment data.

As previously reported, Russian hackers earned $ 2.5 billion over the year.
