Prosecutors of the Kovel District Prosecutor's Office sent to court criminal proceedings regarding the commission of fraud and legalization of property obtained by criminal means by a 31-year-old resident of the village of Skobelka, Lutsk region (part 1.2 of Article 190, part 1 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, during May 2020 - April 2023, the man created fake accounts on the social network Facebook and posted false advertisements for the sale of consumer goods in different groups.
Buyers, tempted by a good price, agreed on delivery and willingly signed up for the chosen item - and the pseudo-seller disappeared.
Thus, the Volynian deceived 214 reckless citizens, causing them material damage in the amount of almost 285 thousand hryvnia.
The man used the illegally obtained funds, transferring them to his bank card, at his own discretion.
