Brewer Garrett trainee lost $3,000 in a scam. Local police specify that the incident occurred in the American town of Middleburg (Ohio).

The injured trainee himself contacted the police, saying that he had received an e-mail message allegedly written on behalf of the president of Brewer Garrett. The sender asked to give him the trainee's phone number, after which the correspondence continued in this way. A request was received from the "head of the company" to help organize a company picnic. It allegedly had to hand over gift cards to especially distinguished employees.

The intern ended up buying $1,400 worth of gift cards from Walgreen's with his own money, then went to CVS and spent another $1,600 to please Brewer Garrett management. He then took pictures of the gift card numbers and codes and sent them to the phone number he corresponded with. He later learned that it was not the president of the company at all. All the cops could do was send the trainee to his bank's anti-fraud department and hand him the scam victims' handouts.
