A homeless 36-year-old man from the American town of Bowling Green (Kentucky) admitted to police that he had repeatedly bought stolen credit card numbers as gifts in order to use them to pay for his hotel stay. According to court documents, Matthew Wallace did this for several months, but security forces eventually managed to track down the suspect.
In the last month, the homeless man has gotten the hang of it - he spent only 5 nights out of 30 in the open air, paying for the rest with someone else's cards. During this period of time, he rented rooms that cost him a hundred dollars a night, spending $2,500 on them.
Speaking about the reasons for the crimes committed, Wallace honestly admitted that he simply did not want to spend the night on the street with his boyfriend. Finding himself in the heat, the man also tried to resell the plastic data to other interested users of dark sites.
Wallace was charged with trading financial information and fraudulent use of a credit card. He is currently in the local jail with bail set at $25,000. Which, however, neither he nor his lover have.
