The Vladimir hacker received a suspended sentence for developing a computer virus to hack the banking system and steal money.
In Vladimir, FSB officers detained a 36-year-old hacker who was developing programs for destroying, blocking, modifying and copying information from computers, as well as for neutralizing protection means.
The investigation found that the 36-year-old man from September 2016 to May 2018 was engaged in the development of programs to hack banking systems and steal money. After developing the program via the Internet, the man opened access to these files to other users, but already in February 2019, a criminal case was opened against him based on materials from the regional FSB.
During the investigation, law enforcement officers confirmed the involvement of the accused in the work of the international cybercriminal group FIN7.
The Frunzensky District Court of the city of Vladimir found an IT specialist guilty of creating, using and distributing malicious programs, sentencing him to one year of suspended imprisonment, with a probationary period of one year. The verdict has not yet come into legal force.
