The company has not yet clarified the consequences of the data leak.

The UK's largest motorhome club in Europe, the Caravan and Motorhome Club (CAMC), which unites more than 1 million people, was the victim of a cyberattack in January, which caused large-scale failures of digital services. The company still cannot determine whether customer data was stolen, despite the involvement of specialists to investigate the incident. As reported on the club's website, cybersecurity experts cannot confirm the fact of access to club members ' data or their unauthorized use.

CAMC offers a variety of insurance policies on its website, and those who buy different types of insurance may be affected to varying degrees:
  • if participants took out Mayday accident insurance policies between 2018 and 2024, the degree of potential data compromise includes names, addresses, vehicle registration numbers, policy numbers, policy start and end dates, and participant numbers;
  • for caravan insurance policies, information about names, policy numbers, policy values, and policy expiration dates may have been disclosed during the same period;
  • club members who applied for Red Pennant emergency insurance when traveling in Europe may have been exposed to a wider range of data leaks, including dates of birth, addresses, mobile numbers, email addresses, policy numbers, vehicle registration numbers, and information about submitted applications.

The organization urged members of the club not to contact it about the security of personal data, promising to notify the victims themselves in case of data compromise. The club shares information about the incident without seeking to cause concern among members. The CAMC website confirms that payment details, campsite booking details, and passwords were not affected, but it is recommended that you update your passwords as a precautionary measure.

Members of the club are warned to be especially careful about phishing attacks via email or text messages, and to avoid clicking on suspicious links. The importance of vigilance in the protection of personal data is emphasized. In response to the incident, CAMC strengthened its cybersecurity measures to prevent similar situations from happening again.

CAMC also clarified that further updates on the situation will be published on the club's website. There will be no coverage of the incident in social networks, so as not to attract the attention of cybercriminals.
