Card not working at ATM

Hello, today I gave someone my cloned card and he pushed ii into the ATM in a Volksbank and Sparkasse he said then the cards are not pulled in or do not fit in and an error that says card faulty / illegible comes. What can this mean or what can be the reason? The card is from France and I tried it in Germany.
