am i secured?

I am living few houses to building and hooked up on internet over wireless,i use socks(not clean or anything)found public on internet
and i was wondering if i can get cought,i know that i never can be 100% secured,but what i can do to make it atleast 80% secured?
I found an abaunded house in my city,was thinking to use it for shipping what you think about this? and yeah,is it smart to buy things from stores which are in same country as i am?i carded online for some gifts and codes over 400$ and there was no credit card reports,yet...

Better to connect to vpn, and then socks. more layers of protection won't hurt

dunno why but i cant connect to any vpn when i connect my internet connection just stops..
