avoiding busts because of icq

we need to communicate with carder.market guys on icq. what happens if somebody on our icq gets busted. will icq release ip addreses of certain users to LE? how do we hide our ip addresses on icq?

can somebody simply do a netstat -a to get the ip address of somebody they are speaking to?

vpn is only going to slow them down,itll take them a few months to get the warrant for the service to log you but you should use double vpn,switch up every so often months, and use tor,vm,mobile broadband anyways among some other stuff but a vpn alone is crap

Assume everything is logged (it is) that everyone will flip (they will) and don't talk business in plaintext. Use OTR or similar with your IM client. Not using encryption is just being stupid and lazy. If someone refuses, their not serious.

u can basically use pidgin client to connect to aim and type 127.0.0.1 in proxy settings. im not sure if its working though. how do i check if all my chat clients in pidgin are connecting through the proxy?

stop tor. If your accounts logout in pidgin then you are connecting through tor.

please people, do not do this stuff from home. simply go to a starbucks or any other place with open wifi.

in addition to open wifi, use tor. this will at least encrypt the first leg of your packet's journey, to deter any sniffers in the area.

Dont send "sensible info/data " throught ICQ , use sendspace to send data .
OTR are good to encrypt ur chat log ,coupled with VPN/socks , clean computer with CCcleaner or other similar soft , encrypt data on ext hdd with "truecrypt" .

I think best protection would be spoofing mac address with hacked modem. Will never find you that way, with combo of VPn and other securities, makes a good protection plan for you. Keep your freedom...

I highly recommend using either a mobile broadband that can been setup using fake info. Cellular triangulation methods are still not that great... they can only triangulate to a 20meter radius which isn't enough for a warrant.

Not true multiple warrants are given out based on Cell phone Towers.

If you are using the same tower day in and day out and lets face it many talk about protection while most our lazy creatures of habit whom may change phones they could well be sitting in there home , most are in there home.

If LE are after your logs you are in there cross hairs the point is not to let it get that far. There is an awful lot of bad information every were as to what LE can and cannot do.
