Ekaterina Mizulina announced the blocking of large VPN services in the Russian Federation.

Ekaterina Mizulina, head of the Secure Internet League, announced the blocking of major VPN services in Russia from March 1. She told about this at a meeting with schoolchildren in Yekaterinburg, the video of which was published by the Svet Yekaterinburg telegram channel.

According to Ekaterina Mizulina, VPN services, especially free ones, pose a threat to users ' security, as they siphon their personal data from their devices. She called them "the portal to hell."

"A VPN, especially a free one — is generally a portal to hell! Because your data is being siphoned off your devices endlessly," she said.

Ekaterina Mizulina clarified that it is impossible to completely block all VPN services, so the restrictions will only apply to large services aimed at a large number of users.

According to her, such measures are associated with the risk of personal data leakage when using free VPNs. Even while in the background, these apps continue to "download information" from users devices.
