A young resident of Bobruisk stole game accounts, later offering to buy them back. The official representative of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Sukhodolsky, told the details of the criminal history on the air of the program "Causes and Consequence" on Radio Minsk, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports.
In May 2023, a 16-year-old resident of the Mogilev region became interested in groups whose activities were aimed at obtaining illegal earnings on the darknet. Anyone who searches finds it, especially on the shadowy Internet.
Having joined one of these groups, the guy began to perform the duties of a"worker". To do this, I started several accounts in one of the chatbots and corresponded on behalf of the girls. When he met guys between the ages of 18 and 20, he offered to play computer games together. To do this, by sending a phishing link, I asked them to add it as a friend on the gaming platform.
After clicking on it, you had to enter your personal data. Only then did the gamer instantly lose access to their account. Bobruisk resident from such frauds received a small profit. Wanting to make more money, he offered the owners of hacked accounts to return access to them, extorting money.
The guy was engaged in such scams for about a month. He mostly corresponded with residents of neighboring countries, hoping for complete impunity because of the distance. But at some point I made a mistake, starting dialogues with Belarusians.
A criminal case has been opened against the 16-year-old defendant for extortion. The involvement of the young man in the deception of three victims — residents of the Gomel region-has already been established.
It should be noted that the teenager has no previous criminal record and has not been brought to administrative responsibility. He is a student of one of the colleges in Bobruisk.
During the interrogation, the guy told about the mechanism of the crimes committed and his role in the criminal scheme. He also said that he expected that because of the small amounts of money, the victims would not apply to the police. The final legal assessment of his actions will be given based on the results of the investigation.
