Real id и Not Federal ID

Real ID is a federal initiative that requires states to ensure that their driver's licenses and ID cards are appropriately protected and comply with federal standards. This means that states should use more stringent identity and security screening measures when issuing driver's licenses and ID cards, such as photo compliance checks and document compliance checks. It is usually marked with a star in the upper-right corner of the license. And who controls it?

The Real ID Act was adopted in the United States in 2005. However, the implementation of this law has been gradual, and some states have only started issuing Real ID-compliant driver's licenses in the last few years. Effective October 1, 2021, all driver's licenses in the United States must be Real ID-compliant and suitable for use as an identity document for airport entry and other restricted uses.

Not Federal ID means that this document does not meet the federal Real ID standards and cannot be used to visit federal buildings, receive services from federal agencies, or enter the country by plane.
