Amberstone Security experts are trying to figure out what caused the large-scale leak.

The British security company Amberstone Security, specializing in security and security systems, was exposed to a data leak that led to public access to almost 1.3 million documents. This was reported by information security researcher Jeremiah Fowler.

The data, available in a publicly accessible online database, contained photos of the company's security guards and suspected offenders, including shoplifting.

In addition, among the leaked documents were an extensive database of photos of security guards ' identification cards from 2017. These cards, issued by the UK's Private Security Regulatory Authority (SIA), contained the name, photo and expiration date of the card, and in some cases even the personal signature of the security guard.

Fowler stressed that such documents can be used by intruders to fake identification and illegal access to objects protected by the company. He also pointed to SIA's plans to introduce biometric technologies in ID cards in the near future, although a specific date has not yet been set.

In addition to photos of security guards, the database also contained images of suspects captured by video cameras or photographed by security guards after the alleged crimes were committed. The photos were accompanied by information about the suspects, including their name, date of birth, and the nature of the charge.

Some of the leaked database documents even contained detailed descriptions of the methods of committing crimes, such as how suspects used intricate schemes to obtain cash in stores.

After discovering the data leak, Amberstone Security immediately closed public access to the database and launched an investigation together with the contractor that developed and maintained the platform.

In response to the media appeal, the company assured that it is taking all necessary measures to prevent similar incidents in the future, acting in accordance with all regulatory responsibilities.
